Thankfulness Day 98:: When did you know?

Everyday I see a woman pregnant somewhere.  On a good day I am a bit jealous and ponder my next child.  On a bad day I think 'glad it's not me!'  However at the pit of me I still want one more child.  I don't feel done.  Our situation isn't favoring that though since hubby is still at a temp job with no benefits and could be let go any day.  Not to forget that we still live with my parents and they wouldn't be too fond of me getting pregnant again.

So here is my question:  When did you know you were done with kids?  Did you just have a peace about it?

Today I am thankful that I have a longing in my heart for another child and I'm learning patience until the time is right.

My second child was born with a spinal defect. It was operable and he leads a normal life today but it was touch-and-go there for a while. I was 34 and I said to my husband that I felt like we'd dodged a bullet but we shouldn't tempt fate again. I had two kids, a boy and a girl, and I felt tremendously blessed. Plus we were planning to move to China and although foreigners aren't subject to the one-child policy, I just knew I didn't want to find myself pregnant here. So we decided I'd get my tubes tied and I have never for one second regretted it.

I'm thankful for your blog. Thank you. :)

Funny story... sometimes you don't know when done is really done. I was holding a friend's 3-month-old baby and commented that I really didn't miss the baby stage and we kind of felt that we were done having kids. Little did I know that God was laughing because we found out a month later about our Baby #4. We are definitely done after this! Steve has an appointment with a bag of frozen peas!

Melanie-That sounds like it was hard for awhile. I'm glad everything is well now!
